PVOGS National Women’s Health Conference 2019
Introducing the PVOGS National Women’s Health Conference 2019! Be inspired by heavy-weights in women’s health and women’s rights, and get up to date on the cutting edge of research and discoveries in O&G. Rotate through hands-on skills workshops, each designed for high-yield learning at the junior doctor and medical student level.
The Pre-Vocational Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society launched in 2015 from a small group of medical students and junior doctors with a common passion in obstetrics and gynaecology. The group was brought together with the support of RANZCOG, with a vision to develop a robust community that would nurture the interest of its members, support their ventures towards an inspired career in O&G and ultimately, contribute to the betterment of healthcare for women in Australia and worldwide.
All this, and the opportunity to meet and mingle with the best in the field, and to bond with other O&G-enthusiasts.
We look forward to welcoming you to the PVOGS Obstetrics & Gynaecology Conference 2019!

Highlights from Conference 2018
PVOGS Obstetrics and Gynaecology Conference 2018 is all wrapped up, and we hope an amazing weekend was had by all. Please see below thank you messages to all delegates from our PVOGS ANZ Chairs and from RANZCOG President-elect Dr Vijay Roach:
Dear PVOGS delegates,
Thank you so much for travelling far and wide to attend our inaugural PVOGS Conference 2018. YOU made our conference phenomenal, you asked poignant questions of our speakers, engaged in thought-provoking discussions with fellow delegates and participated in the workshops with confidence and inquisitiveness. The biggest thing for us, is that you - the delegates - get to meet, mingle & dream up ideas with fellow O&G’s to be and we were lucky enough to catch many inspiring conversations between you all. Thank you all and we can’t wait to see some ‘multips’ at our conference in Sydney 2019!
Brittany & Jana
Chairs, PVOGS ANZ
Dear PVOGS delegates,
I’m writing to thank you for inviting me to be part of your conference on the Gold Coast. I have had a wonderful weekend talking, learning and interacting with a remarkable group of young people. The PVOGS Chairs and Committee are, indeed, quite amazing and must be congratulated on organising an excellent meeting, one that we have all gained from. I have come away buzzing, confident in the future of our profession and humbled by your warmth, enthusiasm and engagement. I wish all of you every success in your studies and aspirations and look forward to more opportunities in the future to meet with you.

Pre/Post O&G rotations
Many of the workshops and activities are divided between individuals who have completed their O&G rotation, in order to best deliver content that is both engaging and suitable for the individuals' current level of training
laparoscopic skills workshop
What do spades and Bipolars have in common? What's a Ligasure and how's that different from a Babcock? Learn or hone your skills with laparoscopic instruments at this workshop, and impress the consultants next time you step into theatre.
Whether you've never sutured before or have regularly closed skin after a midline laparotomy, the suturing workshop brings an O&G spin to a staple medical technique.
Learn how to translate the snowstorm that is an ultrasound screen into a baby! It's Magic! Hands on with direct supervision with various ultrasound machines and probes, and practice various scanning techniques!
"I think my water just broke" is a famous line that is reused countless times in TV and movies throughout the lifetime of Hollywood. Imagine you were stuck in an airplane, a train, or an elevator. What would you do? What if it was a breech delivery?
Practice a variety of common and core gynaecological skills such as IUD insertion that will come in handy in both the hospital and sub-acute setting.
